LAPLACE — Detective Basil Trepagnier was recently promoted to lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Division, Sheriff Mike Tregre announced. In addition, Lt. Trepagnier has been selected to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.

He will be among more than 200 students from throughout the world who will attend the rigorous 10-week training in FBI Session 280 from March 30 through June 5 in Quantico, Virginia.

The invitation-only training is attended by leaders of state, local, federal, and international law enforcement agencies.

Students will attend courses on law, behavioral science, forensic science, understanding terrorism/terrorist mindsets, leadership, communication, and health/fitness. They also will participate in leadership and specialized training where they will share ideas, techniques, and experiences to enhance their ability in policing in their respective communities
