Early voting begins Saturday

BATON ROUGE — Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin encourages all eligible Louisianians to consider voting early in the Nov. 16 election. Early voting begins Saturday, Nov. 2 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, excluding Sunday, Nov. 3.
Governor and Secretary of State will appear on all St. John the Baptist Parish ballots. John Bel Edwards and Eddie Rispone are in the run-off for governor. Edwards received 46.59 percent of the vote in the Oct. 12 election, and Rispone received 27.42 percent of the vote.
Kyle Ardoin and Gwen Collins-Greenup are in the run-off for Secretary of State. Ardoin received 41.06 percent of the vote in the Oct. 12 election, while Collins-Greenup received 33.78 percent of the statewide vote. In St. John Parish, Collins-Greenup received 58.1 percent of the vote.
Approximately half of St. John the Baptist Parish residents will see a Council At-Large Division B race between Marvin “Butch” Perrilloux Jr. and Michael Wright. In the Oct. 12 election, Perrilloux secured 31.12 percent of the vote, and Wright secured 43.05 percent of the vote.
Some LaPlace residents will choose between Tyra Duhé-Griffin and Frank Alexis Jr. for Parish Council District 4 in the run-off election. Duhé-Griffin got 47.55 percent of the vote Oct. 12, and Alexis got 27.01 percent of the vote.
Voters should utilize Louisiana’s award-winning, free smartphone app, GeauxVote Mobile, to find out where to early vote as well as what’s on their ballot. Voters can also access this information in the Voter Portal by visiting https://voterportal.sos.la.gov.
Citizens who want to vote early may do so in person at the parish Registrar of Voters Office or at other designated locations. For a complete listing of early voting locations, visit https://voterportal.sos.la.gov/EarlyVoting.
In addition to a Louisiana driver’s license, a Louisiana Special ID or a generally recognized ID with picture and signature, voters may now use a digital license via LA Wallet, the new smartphone app by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Poll commissioners have received training regarding the digital license as an acceptable form of picture ID.
Election Day for the gubernatorial general is from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 16.
