LAPLACE — Father Matthew Johnston of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church recently transferred to another parish after three years guiding parishioners in LaPlace.

Johnston celebrated his five-year anniversary as a priest in June. He recently enjoyed a farewell celebration organized by church members.
