LAPLACE — Rashad Brown, 24, of New Orleans, faces three additional charges in connection to burglaries that occurred early this month in LaPlace, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He was first arrested June 13 and booked with two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling (felony).
On June 14, he was booked with three counts of possession of stolen things. He also was charged as a wanted fugitive on an outstanding warrant from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The St. John Sheriff’s Office asked for public assistance in identifying a male burglary suspect earlier this month.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said Brown is “absolutely” the same subject from the videos.
Through investigation, officers tracked Brown’s car, conducted a traffic stop and found physical evidence linking him to the burglaries.
“We even have the clothing in the car that he was wearing on the video that we made public,” Tregre said. “He’s also been tied to a string of burglaries in Jefferson Parish.”
According to Tregre, Brown acted alone in the burglaries and stole only what he could carry in his pockets.
Brown is being held in custody in lieu of a $25,500 bond. This investigation is ongoing.
