LAPLACE — Girls entering or presently in kindergarten are invited to watch Disney movie Moana from 10 a.m. to noon May 25 at the Norris Millet Sr. Library meeting room, 2920 U.S. 51 in LaPlace.

Girls will get the opportunity to meet other girls, as their parents learn about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Adults interested in volunteering are encouraged to join. Girls who join the Girl Scouts on May 25 will even receive a fun patch.

The annual Girl Scout membership fee is $25 for both girls and adults. However, through July 30, girls can join for $35, which covers membership through Sept. 30, 2020.

Girl Scouts practice four key leadership skills through a variety of girl-led activities and experiences grounded in Girl Scouts’ program pillars of STEM, the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship.

These skills are: Goal setting (Go-getter); Problem solving (Innovator); Trying new things and decision making (Risk-taker); Leading others with empathy (Leader), which spell out G.I.R.L.
