LULING — The Ashton Manor Assisted Living and Memory Care approach of understanding of their clients’ needs has earned the Luling location a prestigious honor, setting it apart from its counterparts in the state.

Ashton Manor was awarded the Dementia Care Specialists’ Distinguished Provider Award for excelling in resident care, specifically helping residents enjoy the greatest level of function, safety and quality of life.

“We believe that the best way to help people at every stage of the disease is to build abilities-based, person-centered care around understanding what someone’s life was like in order to make their life better now,” Ashton Manor owner David Schonberg said.

More than five million Americans are living with dementia, and it’s projected that almost 15 million will be affected by 2050.

Ashton Manor, 270 Ashton Plantation Blvd. in Luling, is the first assisted living and memory care community in Louisiana to win the award.

Dementia Care Specialists President and Founder Kim Warchol presented the award, which honors Ashton Manor’s commitment to the Dementia Capable Care training philosophy and to an abilities-based approach to care.

“Distinguished Provider status is a seal of approval from industry leaders,” Kim said at the ceremony.

Developed by Schonberg & Associates, owner-operator of Vista Shores in New Orleans and communities in Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina, Ashton Manor opened in 2012 to serve the assisted living and memory care needs of Luling residents.

Each team member at Ashton Manor is specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and the community’s individualized programs are custom-designed to enable each resident to function at the highest possible level.
