Soon high schools all over the country will be celebrating another Graduation.

What comes after Graduation for many students is still a mystery, even though it is less than two months away.

For the students who have not applied and been accepted into a four-year university or a two-year community college, the future seems unsure and somewhat at a standstill.

While there is nothing wrong with taking the first summer off after graduation, it is easy to get behind in building a future for yourself if you don’t have definite plans.

River Parishes Community College-Reserve Campus is presenting its annual Career Links Event sponsored by Shell on May 2.

It is the opportunity for parents and students to meet with local industry and business to learn about career opportunities in the three parishes.

All high school students and their parents in St. John, St. Charles and St. James (including all private high schools) are invited to attend the event.

It begins at 6 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m. Dinner will be served.

All of the programs at River Parishes Community College will be represented, and there will be student services staff on hand to answer questions including financial aid.

This event is perfect for parents, students, educators and industry to come together. This event could make the difference in the life of your student.

Come learn about current apprenticeships, internships and various learning platforms that accommodate even the busiest work schedule.

Did you know that students could begin attending classes before graduating high school?

River Parishes Community College’s Dual Enrollment Program allows students to earn college credits and be that much closer to a degree, while finishing high school classes.

Career Link links together parents, educators, industry and students to give them the information they need to make an informed decision about their future career.
