Keller: Children’s prayers come from the heart

I’ve often visited people in the hospital to encourage and pray for them. When I was a patient, I had people visit and pray for me.
Sometimes I was reminded of what God says about repetitious, rambling words that really came from the mouth without any conviction.
Recently, at one of the Bible-sharing men’s meetings, the topic was about the power of prayer.
I shared that if ever I’m in the hospital seriously sick, I would welcome any visitor, but I would love to have an innocent little child come and pray for me.
Why?
Because the Bible says that we have to become like little children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Whenever an innocent child prays, I guarantee that our Heavenly Father listens, because it’s not rambling or repetitious words. It’s a request that comes from the heart, which reaches God’s heart.
An example of a powerful child’s prayer was sent to Jeanne and I from our daughter, Ronny. It was a picture of her 4-year-old granddaughter, Charlie, kneeling and praying before going to bed.
Please allow me to share her prayer with you.
“Dear God,
Thanks for loving everyone. I hope everyone in the world loves you, too. Everyone loves me, but it’s different, because they can actually see me.”
It’s amazing what comes from the mouth of innocent children.
Frank and Monique are raising Charlie and her sisters, Olivia and Caroline, in a healthy Christian atmosphere they will never forget when they get older.
