LAPLACE — Valerie Walker of LaPlace walked out of L’Observateur’s office in LaPlace with an extra $50.

She took home the cash Wednesday afternoon as the winner of L’Observateur’s “Win $50 for Reading” contest, sponsored by Ross Louque Exterminating throughout February.

Walker, who moved to St. John Parish in 2007, said she is a regular reader of L’Observateur.

There’s more good news for readers of L’Observateur — the contest jumps to $100 in March thanks to the sponsorship of Frenier Landing Restaurant and Oyster Bar.
