St. Charles Parish is set to introduce Girls Flag Football, a new avenue for youth sports, which is scheduled to commence this summer.

The inaugural season, organized by the St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation, will start with the Boys Flag Football program, supporting the growing national movement for inclusive sports opportunities.

The season will take place from July to August, with registration open from May 1 to May 25.

“The introduction of Girls Flag Football marks a significant advancement in our youth sports programming,” Director Duane Foret said. “It opens the door for girls to grow, lead, and thrive in a supportive and empowering environment.”

Residents in the Parish must register through their designated booster clubs, which span several communities, from Destrehan to Norco. Prospective participants should register promptly, as late registrations from May 26 – 31 will incur an additional fee.

The failure to register with the correct booster club may delay the season’s kickoff and disrupt uniform orders. The program comes with a straightforward refund policy. If a player’s uniform has not been ordered, a full refund is possible.

Once the order is placed, that window closes. If enough teams aren’t formed to launch a league, registered girls will receive a refund either through their booster club or the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Ahead of this landmark summer, those interested should mark their calendars for registration details and requirements listed on its official website at scpparksandrec.com/flag-football
