Laplace man arrested by St. John’s Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with shooting

A Laplace man has been taken into custody by deputies from St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection to a shooting on the 8800 block of Richmond Drive in LaPlace.
Keenon Alexander, 26, was charged and booked with attempted second-degree murder, along with other offenses related to the shooting incident on Thursday.
Deputies from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, responding to a shooting incident on Richmond Drive, found a male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The 26-year-old man victim from LaPlace was transported to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he is listed in critical condition.
Detectives later identified the victim and an unidentified suspect were involved in a physical altercation as the suspect removed a handgun from his person and shot the victim several times. The suspect then fled from the area on foot.
In addition to attempted second-degree murder, Alexander was booked with possession of a firearm/carry of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon (felony), contempt of court (felony), and contempt of court (misdemeanor).
