The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Baton Rouge man after he was seen on a home security camera trying to open the front door of a house in LaPlace early Sunday morning.

The man, whom SJSO detectives later identified as Gari Green, 40, was seen pulling on the doorknob of a home in the 2700 block of Williamsburg Drive shortly around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

After trying the door, Green is seen walking off. The homeowner, who did not know Green, called the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident after receiving a notification from her security company.

Green turned himself in on Tuesday. During a break in the interview, Green took out a concealed bag of marijuana and began consuming it in an attempt to destroy the evidence.

He was charged with obstruction of justice, possession of synthetic marijuana (1st offense, misdemeanor), and attempted unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling (felony).
