Seven high schools from the River Parishes, the area along the Mississippi River northwest of New Orleans, comprising St. James, St. Charles, and St. John the Baptist are in the playoffs brackets according to the fixtures by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association while some were in action on Friday.
The teams involved in the playoffs from the River Parishes include Lutcher, St. James, St. Charles Catholic, Riverside Academy, Hahnville Tigers, Destrehan and West St. John.
In the opening round of the Division I non-select playoffs, Hahnville Tigers( Hahnville high school) advanced to the next round of the playoff with a 49 – 39 victory over H.L. Bourgeois(H.L. Bourgeois High school), while Destrehan won 30 – 12 over Ouachita Parish. In the Division II select, St. Charles Catholic won 33 – 8 over Northside.
