St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office former deputy arrested, charged with battery

A former St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff office deputy was arrested of Friday on a single charge of using excessive force with a suspect, according to a press release.
Nicholas Bordelon was arrested after the Sheriff’s Office concluded its investigation of an incident involving Bordelon who was caught on body camera hitting a suspect multiple times with a closed fist on Oct 12.
After seeing the footage, his appointment with the Sheriff’s office was terminated on Oct. 14 and the investigation was taken over by the St. John Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division who obtained a warrant for his arrest.
The 32-year old former deputy was booked into the St. John Parish jail but released after posting bond. Bordelon has been employed as a patrol deputy in St. John since July, 2022 until his dismissal.
