The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with Ochsner Performance Training ,will host a three-day Tackle Football Academy geared to teach children 7-14 safe playing skill. The camp will be 5-7 p.m. Aug. 6-8 at the West Bank Bridge Park.
“We encourage all kids interested in playing tackle football and those signed up for our recreation league to participate in this wonderful skills clinic by Ochsner Performance Training,” Director Duane Foret said. “Proper tackling and blocking techniques are important for kids to learn at a young age to make the game as safe as possible for everyone.”
Ochsner Performance Training will provide skilled trainers and former football players to help participants master the basics of tackle football with a specific emphasis on heads-up tackling and blocking techniques.
In addition to the safety component, there will be position-specific guided instruction aimed to assist speed and agility work on the gridiron.
The academy costs $50 per participant, and registration is open now through July 31. Click here to register for this camp.
