Phil “Pop” A. Breaux passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, two days shy of his 84th birthday. He was born in New Orleans on March 28, 1940 and was a longtime resident of Reserve, La.
Phil was well known as a barber at Breaux’s Barber Shop in Reserve, where he worked for over 64 years, most notably alongside his father, Wesley. He was voted by his community as Best Barber in 2022’s “Best of River Parishes” edition of L’Observateur. Phil was a great conversationalist and loved “shop humor.” His many hobbies over his lifetime included coaching tennis, fishing, traveling to national parks, photography, riding motorcycles, studying astronomy, buying collector guns, and FaceTiming with family.
Formerly married to Karen Perret Coleman for 28 years. Beloved father of Eric J. Breaux (Jane) and Maria Breaux Cancienne (Dale). Grandfather of Mikah Simoneaux (Jody), Mallory Ippolito (Chase), Shane Roussel Jr. (Madison), Skyler Roussel (Anna), Gabe Roussel (Laney), Kat Breaux, Jacob Breaux and Antonia Vital. Great grandfather of Ellasyn and Briggs Badeaux, Ava, Elijah and Sage Roussel, and Payton and Paige Simoneaux.
Phil was the son of the late Wesley A. Breaux and Mabel D’Arensburg Breaux, and the brother of Gary Breaux (Phyllis) and the late Joy Breaux Almerico. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Hwy, LaPlace. Visitation for family will be held from 9 a.m to 10 a.m and public visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the Funeral Service to immediately follow at 1 p.m. Interment in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Reserve. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your favorite local charity.
