Detectives from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office are seeking public assistance to identify a person of interest involved in a carjacking incident that occurred today, January 25, 2024, around 2 pm. Deputies responded to a report of the incident in the 12000 block of Airline Highway in Destrehan, specifically at a service station near the intersection of Airline Highway and Ormond Boulevard.

The victim, a young female, reported that a young black male, wearing a dark-colored hoodie and a ski mask, stole her car. The incident unfolded as the victim was pumping gas when the suspect approached her, displayed a handgun, and demanded her keys. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s dark blue Toyota Camry, heading eastbound on Airline Highway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Sheriff Greg Champagne urged the community to assist in identifying the person of interest connected to the carjacking. Detectives are actively seeking any information that could aid in resolving the case.
