Why did you choose to run for Clerk of Court? As a former employee of both the Parish Government and the St. John Sheriff’s Office, I have seen firsthand the importance of continuous collaboration and communication with the Clerk of Court’s Office. I have worked to help resolve some of the problems that exist for the staff and mostly for the citizens of the Parish, when the Clerk’s office does not have up to date information in the system. With this experience and understanding, I decided to seek election as the next Clerk of Court.
What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position? My knowledge and experience of what it takes to create a solid partnership with the Parish President, Sheriff’s, District Attorney’s, and Assessor’s offices, is instrumental in creating efficient and effective government. In addition, my history of being a dedicated and competent employee, makes me the right person for this job. In order to be successful in any line of work, one must demonstrate dedication, accountability, and reliability when performing any job duties assigned to them. Fairness and trustworthiness are of the utmost importance when providing services to the public. I have demonstrated all of these valuable qualities throughout my career.
What would you like to see changed or improved within the Clerk of Court’s Office? Most importantly, I would like to see the implementation of modernized technology; our citizens deserve to be able to access, view, or retrieve information as needed electronically. Electronic access to records and online payments will allow for transparency, accountability, and accurate record keeping. Secondly, I would like to have a full-service office for the citizens on the East Bank of St. John; understanding that the main office will always be in the courthouse on the West Bank, the East Bank citizens deserve the option to go directly to the Parish Government building in LaPlace for any records needed.
How do you plan to make a difference? I plan to provide an atmosphere within the Clerk of Court’s office, where our citizens are treated with dignity, kindness, respect and excellent customer service when they need us. They deserve this. I also plan on implementing cross-training for all employees within the Clerk of Court’s office, that way our employees are accessible at all times regardless of any changes within the office. And creating a pleasant and respectful environment for the staff, that they may service our citizens with the best service available.
