Two Men Arrested in Connection with Missing Baton Rouge Area Juvenile

Baton Rouge – In July 2023, Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU) partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to investigate a missing juvenile from the Baton Rouge area. After the recovery of the missing juvenile, and through further investigation, LSP SVU secured arrest warrants for 21-year-old Treymaine Nicholas of Baton Rouge and 18-year-old Caleb Smith of Hammond.
On August 23, 2023, Nicholas was arrested for Second Degree Kidnapping in East Baton Rouge Parish and was booked without incident at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Smith was arrested for four counts of First Degree Rape in Tangipahoa Parish and was booked without incident at the Tangipahoa Parish Prison. LSP SVU secured an additional arrest warrant for Smith for Second Degree Kidnapping and First Degree Rape out of East Baton Rouge Parish. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
LSP SVU works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor.
