LAPLACE — Now open at 232 Belle Terre Blvd. Ste. D in LaPlace, Tri-Parish Uniforms LLC is here to help families across St. John the Baptist, St. Charles and St. James parishes prepare their children for a successful school year.
The new store offers uniforms for all of the public schools across the three River Parishes. Tri-Parish Uniforms also carries uniforms for Riverside Academy, St. Joan of Arc, Ascension of Our Lord and St. Charles Catholic, in addition to accessories such as socks, sweatshirts, belts, and clear/mesh backpacks.
According to owners Rosalyn Ruffin-Duley and James Duley, the goal is to have inventory for all public and private schools across the River Parishes, in addition to area daycares, by the next school year. The owners are no stranger the business world, and they are passionate about serving the community they live in for years to come.
The inspiration for the store arose following the closing of Children’s World in LaPlace. The Duleys saw a need for a local uniform store when they had to venture to Metairie to find school uniforms for their son, who attends St. Charles Catholic.
“My husband brought the idea to me about opening a school uniform shop. I’m a local attorney who has had a law practice here for about 14 years. We also operate Todd’s Snowballs on Greenwood and two other snowball stands in Norco and Ponchatoula. I thought it might be a bit too much to handle, but as I started hearing my clients tell me how frustrated they were with having to go outside of the parish just to get uniforms, it allowed me to massage the idea,” Ruffin-Duley said.
Realizing how great the need was for both private and public school students, the Duleys decided to not prioritize one parish or one school setting over another.
“I told my husband that the only way we could do it is if we serve the public and private schools in all three parishes,” Ruffin-Duley said. “My client base comes from all three parishes, and they have all supported our snowball stands. Even though our child attends private school, we want to make sure we’re offering for what is needed for every child.”
The owners will continue to listen to the community’s needs while securing inventory for the store. Sweatshirts were added after parents shared they were having trouble finding clothing without hoods that would meet school uniform regulations and still keep their children warm during the cooler months.
Tri-Parish Uniforms LLC is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
“If there is a parent who cannot make those hours and they call us, we will stay late to accommodate that parent,” Ruffin-Duley said.
