Maurepas – On July 1, 2023, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 22 near Petite Drive in Livingston Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 37-year-old Sara Marshall of Prairieville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Marshall was driving a 2004 Toyota Solara headed east on LA 22. For reasons still being investigated, Marshall ran off the roadway and entered the Amite River. After entering the Amite River, Marshall’s vehicle became fully submerged.
Despite being restrained at the time of the crash, Marshall suffered fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Marshall for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
