RESERVE — Parents of 29-year-old Donovan Bailey who was gunned down on April 17, 2013 in the 300 block of East 13th Street in Reserve have joined with Crimestoppers GNO once again, seeking justice for their son.

Donovan was driving his van with friends when someone opened fire on the van and shot Donovan in the torso.  Donovan was brought to the hospital where he later expired from his wounds.  During the years since his murder, an arrest was made in the case in 2014 by the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s office from information gathered by Crimestoppers tipsters, but the suspect was ultimately released, due to a lack of witnesses, as described by The Baileys.

As the family continues to grieve for their son and the lack of closure, they have been approached like many families of a homicide, by members of the community with possible leads.  They have decided to announce a new larger reward of $17,500 with Crimestoppers in the hopes that the information needed will surface to close this case.   The family raised $15,000 and this has been added to the Crimestoppers $2,500.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. and Mrs. Bailey over the years and it truly pains me to see their continued grief. Especially, when there was an arrest early on. This new reward of up to $17,500 is significant and those with information can and will remain anonymous.  Please send in your information and don’t delay,” stressed Darlene Cusanza, Crimestoppers president and CEO.  Rewards in homicide are paid half upon arrest and the remaining half on indictment.

The St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s office is looking for any new information to assist with this investigation.

To be eligible to receive the reward, tipsters must contact Crimestoppers directly at (504) 822-1111, online at www.Crimestoppersgno.org post a tip or by downloading the Crimestoppers CSGNO community app.
