Convicted Felon Arrested for Possessing a Firearm

Ryan Stewart, 29, of Reserve, a convicted felon, was arrested June 9, 2023 for possessing a firearm and resisting an officer.
On Tuesday June 6, 2023, about 10:30 a.m., officers were conducting pro-active patrol in the 200 block of East 27th Street in Reserve where they observed an unknown male, later identified as Terry Dawson II, 24, of Reserve hand a pistol to another male, identified as Stewart, who was carrying a pistol in his hand as he walked south on East 27th Street.
Officers had prior knowledge that Stewart was a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history. Since 2015, in St. John Parish, Stewart has been arrested 25 times on multiple charges including burglary, theft, simple escape, battery, illegal drug activity, possession of stolen firearms, and resisting an officer.
As officers attempted to detain the subjects, Stewart and Dawson fled on foot. As officers pursued the suspects, they observed Stewart toss a pistol over a fence of a residence in the 200 block of East 27th Street. Shortly after, officers apprehended Stewart and Dawson in the 200 block of East 27th Street.
Dawson was charged with resisting an officer.
Stewart was charged with possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $31,500 set by Judge Fiffie.
