Two outstanding St. John the Baptist Parish scholars were recipients of the Rotary Club of LaPlace’s scholarship awards during a recent meeting.

Asia Scioneaux was awarded the Dean Torres Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Rotary Club of LaPlace. Torres was a lifetime Rotarian, active in numerous civic and civil organizations throughout St. John The Baptist Parish for many years before he passed away in March 2022 at the age of 77.

George Martin III was awarded the Service Above Self Scholarship, sponsored by Rev. Gordon Taylor of the Rotary Club of LaPlace. Service Above Self is Rotary Club’s motto, embodied by those who volunteer their time and talents for the betterment of others.
