Scam artists have been calling residents pretending to be officers with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office. These scammers use sophisticated technology to manipulate caller ID data to show that the call is actually coming from the SJSO. They claim the person they are calling has an active arrest warrant, that a fine is due, and demand immediate payment to prevent arrest.

Sheriff Mike Tregre wants residents to know the SJSO will never call you by phone and ask you to purchase a Green Dot card or any type of gift card or use Apply Pay or wire money to make a payment. Do not send payment via these methods to anyone claiming to be with SJSO.
