Deputies respond to vehicle break-ins in Lutcher

LUTCHER — On Monday, April 24, 2023, deputies and detectives with the Sheriff’s Office responded to several calls within the Town of Lutcher regarding several vehicles being broken into. Through investigation, detectives learned property taken in the burglaries were used in Gonzales. With the assistance of the Gonzales Police Department, video surveillance was collected which assisted in identifying the individuals involved in the burglaries.
One suspect was identified as Eri’Yonna McKinley, 18 years old, Lutcher, LA who has been arrested and booked with three counts of LA R.S. 14:62 Simple Burglary of Motor Vehicles and 1 count of LA R.S. 14:67.15 Theft of a Firearm.
The second suspect has a warrant issued for his arrest, who is identified as Roland Lewis, 30 years old, Gramercy, LA facing the same charges as McKinley. Lewis also has active bench warrants for his arrest and is currently out on bond for similar acts in 2022 that occurred in the Lutcher and Paulina area.
The third suspect is identified as Benzel Q. Young, 31 years old, from the Lutcher area. Young is facing the same charges along with an additional charge of LA. R.S. 14:95.1 Illegal Possession of a Firearm by Persons Convicted of Certain Felonies. Young has an extensive history of similar acts and is currently on Probation for Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and should be considered armed and dangerous.
