St. John School Board millage vote passes

ST.JOHN PARISH — Saturday, April 29, was Election Day for the Municipal General Election.
The passing measure on the ballot was a millage renewal of 10.56 mills for St. John the Baptist public school teachers and staff that would be in effect for 10 years beginning in 2024 until 2033. it is a renewal of an existing property tax.
The measure passed by 80 % of the voters or 1296 for and 20% or 320 against.
According to the information on the ballot, it will provide annual improvement of salaries and employee health care of teachers and all other employees of the district. It is estimated to generate $8,140,000 at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year
