Two Men and Juvenile Arrested in Connection to Home Burglary

Two men and a male juvenile were arrested Monday, April 24, 2023, after shattering a window and a sliding glass door to break into a LaPlace home. Arrested were Clarence Alvis, 20 of LaPlace; Antione Nelson, 18, of Garyville; and a 16-year-old juvenile from LaPlace.
On Monday, April 24, 2023, about 11 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Camelia Avenue in LaPlace in reference to three male subjects breaking into a residence.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject, later identified as Nelson, wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask, emerge from the rear of a house on Camelia Avenue. As officers gave verbal commands for Nelson to stop, he fled to the rear yard of a residence on Magnolia Drive, jumped over a fence and entered another backyard of a residence on Magnolia Drive. Subsequently, officers observed two other male subjects, later identified as Alvis and the 16-year-old juvenile, wearing all black clothing and black masks, also flee from the Camelia residence, jump a fence and run towards Magnolia Drive.
As the foot pursuit of the subjects continued on Magnolia Drive, patrol and SWAT officers eventually apprehended all three subjects.
Officers discovered a stolen handgun on Alvis’ person. They also located a backpack belonging to the 16-year-old with jars and bags of marijuana. In the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of Camelia Avenue, officers located a suitcase that contained several pairs of shoes and a Play Station 5 stolen from the Camelia Avenue home.
Through investigation, officers discovered that the Camelia Avenue home had a shattered rear kitchen window as well as a shattered rear sliding glass door.
Alvis was charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles (misd), simple criminal damage to property – under $1000 (misd); resisting an officer by flight (misd), illegal possession of a stolen firearm; and simple burglary of inhabited dwelling (felony). He is being held in custody in leiu of a $38,500 bond.
Nelson, 18, of Garyville was charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles (misd), simple criminal damage to property – under $1000 (misd); resisting an officer by flight (misd), and simple burglary of inhabited dwelling (felony). He is being held in custody in lieu of a $13,500 bond.
The 16-year-old male was booked with simple criminal damage to property – under $1000 (misd); resisting an officer by flight (misd); possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); and simple burglary of inhabited dwelling (felony). He is being held in custody at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility.
