Rotary presents 1st scholarship of 2023

LAPLACE—The Rotary Club of LaPlace recently presented a $1,000 scholarship to Davede Lewis. Lewis is a senior at East St. John and a member of its Interact Club.
The scholarship was for “Your Success Check.” Lewis was selected from several ESJH School Interact Seniors to receive the scholarship.
The ESJH School Interact Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of LaPlace and Yevette Scioneaux is a teacher leading the group. The Interact Club brings together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
Lewis plans to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and major in psychology.
The local club contributed $825 towards this scholarship, and the remaining $175 was a grant from Rotary International District 6840.
