The Final Shot: RA boys basketball team got to 2nd round

GRAMBLING—The Riverside Academy boys basketball team season ended on February 28 in Grambling, La., with a 78-60 loss to No. 2 seed Lincoln Preparatory School in the second round of Division IV select playoffs. Terrell Hillard led all scorers in the game with 26 points, including five 3-pointers.
“The team knew going into the game this was the second ranked team in the state, a very well coached team,” Coach John White said. “Our kids worked well with the pressure and offensively as well. I’m very pleased with the effort they gave. Throughout the year we saw steady progress and I’m happy how the season ended.”
The team finished the season 7-13 with a No. 18 seed in the bracket. In 2022 the Rebels reached the semi-finals, but fell to Calvary Baptist.
Lincoln Preparatory School moved on to the play the No. 7 seed Southern Lab in the quarterfinals and are in the semi-finals.
The boys team retired three seniors this year: Elijah “Bill” Davis, Terrell Hillard, and Alex Ross.
Kallie Bourgeois, a senior, is a second year journalism student. She is on the swim, soccer, and tennis team. She plans on attending Northwestern State University of Louisiana to major in Social Work. She plans on contributing articles to The Current Sauce at NSULA.
