GARYVILLE — As part of their Educational Outreach Program, the Rotary Club of
LaPlace presented Garyville/Mt. Airy Magnet School with $500.
“The kids are our future,” said Rotary President Demetria Carter. “We want to invest in their education.”
Garyville/Mt. Airy Magnet School’s Principal Deshanna Bause was very
appreciative of the donation. “I’m thankful for the people in our community
who are concerned about the children,” Bause said. “We always welcome
community and industry support to help us bring back our magnet program.”
“We really appreciate the Rotary Club’s assistance in supplying
items for our students,” said Assistant Principal Leslie Brumfield.
The Rotary Club of LaPlace also sponsors flag presentations to
fourth graders in every school in St. John Parish. In addition, the Rotary
Club chooses one school per year and donates sweatshirts to the fourth grade
students as part of their Comfort for Learning program.
