Three Arrested in LaPlace Shooting

Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting on Friday, February 10, 2023, in LaPlace. Arrested February 10, 2023 were Raekwon Batiste, 21, Jonathan Williams, 18, and a 16-male juvenile, all of LaPlace.
About noon, officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Van Arpel Drive in LaPlace in reference to shots fired at a residence. Upon arrival, officers learned that three male subjects, later identified as Williams, Batiste and 16-year-old juvenile, walked up to a residence and fired multiple gunshots at the residence. The males then fled the area on foot. Through investigation, officers learned the suspects fled to a residence in the 1400 block of Cartier Drive. Shortly after, the SWAT team arrived and conducted a security sweep of the residence. After clearing the residence, officers located the three suspects in a closet inside the residence, and they were arrested. No one was injured. Officers also recovered an AR-15 inside the residence.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
Williams was charged with illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and aggravated criminal damage to property (felony). He also was wanted on a fugitive warrant for Kenner Police Department. Williams is being held in custody in lieu of a $60,000 bond.

The juvenile was charged with illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and aggravated criminal damage to property (felony). He is being held in custody.
