Performing arts mentorship program comes to St. James Parish

LUTCHER — Following a successful run in St. Charles Parish, JaVon Ophelia’s ACT Mentorship & Learning for the Performing Arts Program has arrived in St. James Parish.
Sessions are held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. February 7 through May 25 at the Lutcher Library. Please take advantage of this FREE resource. The following components are offered:
- Acting- Discover the basic principles of acting and set yourself up with skills to succeed in the entertainment industry, from working commercials to learning to control tone and perform in a scene.
- Dancing – Get ready to move and groove through six areas of dance that will help students refine skills, learn, grow and have fun.
- Mentorship – Receive mentorship from writer, director and producer JaVon Ophelia Butler, MPA.
- Specialty Areas – Piano lessons, singing lessons, drum lessons

The program is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the RAC.
