LAPLACE — Due to low water pressure at St. Charles Catholic High School due to a broken water main on Airline Highway in LaPlace, administration is in the process of making adjustments to the schedule today.
Students moved to D period class early, and lunch started at 10:30 a.m. All students will be dismissed from school at 1 p.m. today. Teachers will be on duty in the Commons until 2 p.m. All students must be picked up from school by 2 p.m.
The basketball tournament will continue as planned with hopes that the water will be restored in full by this evening.
“We apologize for this inconvenience,” administration said in a press release Friday. “However, our school is not allowed to be open without full use of our restrooms to the students and faculty.”
St. John Parish reported a contractor was working in the LaPlace area when a water line was broken Friday morning. There may be water pressure fluctuations and outages in LaPlace while Utilities crews work to isolate the area.
As of 11 a.m., Utilities crews had isolated the main water leak in LaPlace, and water pressure is starting to rebuild slowly.
