Concealed carry classes to begin in 2023

LAPLACE — In January 2023, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office will begin hosting Concealed Carry Permit classes to the public so that students can complete the certification required to obtain a Louisiana Concealed Carry License.
The class is set for January 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and January 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the LBJ Law Enforcement Training Center on Cambridge Drive in LaPlace.
The cost of the class is $100. Each class is open to eight people per class.

This eight-hour certification class will assist students to better understand the legal requirements necessary for the concealed carrying of a handgun as well as provide valuable insight into the safe handling of firearms, both inside and outside of the home.
The course will consist of a classroom session that will last approximately six hours, a one hour lunch break, and a one hour firearms qualification session in the shooting range. This course is for the Concealed Carry Certificate only and does not provide the student with the actual license required by the state of Louisiana. All students also be responsible for paying any Licensing fees required by the State.
