UPDATE: The confirmed tornado has moved over the lake and is no longer a threat to this area.

 

MONTZ — A tornado warning is in effect until 3 p.m. for central St. John the Baptist Parish and Northwestern St. Charles parishes.

At 2:24 p.m., a tornado was located over Montz, near LaPlace, moving northeast at 40 mph.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
central St. John The Baptist and northwestern St. Charles Parishes.
This includes the following Interstates…
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 206 and 215.
Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 3.
