CONVENT — Parish President Pete Dufresne and the Recreation Department are pleased to announce the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the new St James Parish Recreation Building, prior to the Biddy Basketball season opener. The event will be held on Monday, December 19th at 4:00p.m. at the new Recreation Building located at 1735 Deroche Circle, Gramercy, LA 70052.
Parish President Pete Dufresne is excited about the new building. He said, “My administration has worked tirelessly to make the St James Parish Recreation Building a reality. This building means there’s opportunities for new programs to come to our parish, and we can improve and expand the recreation services we already offer. It’s a big win for everyone in St James Parish, and I’m excited to see it finished.”
During the Grand Opening, the winners 9–10-year-old All-Star 2021 Basketball National Champions will be recognized and receive their championship rings.
“The Grand Opening is a great opportunity for us to recognize this stellar group of athletes,” President Dufresne said. “It’s great to see our youth succeeding at what they love, and to do it through our Recreation Department.”
The building will be fully open starting on Monday the 19th. The Health Club will be open for residents to use the parish’s workout equipment, and the Ladies Aerobic Program will also be moving to the new building. Following the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting, the Biddy Basketball Program will host their first games in the Recreation Building at 5:30p.m.
Recreation Administrator Brent Dicharry also commented on the new building. He said, “I am super excited about getting St James Parish’s first multipurpose recreation building. This center will provide more opportunities for our youth and for our adult residents.”
