LAPLACE — As 2022 comes to a close, here is what Keep St. John Beautiful, the parish residents and elected officials and staff accomplished despite the fact we are still recovering from Hurricane Ida while dealing with other environmental disruptions. The accomplishments below to abate litter and focus on beautification efforts which plays a part in quality of life conditions cannot happen without these valuable partnerships, and for that, KSJB is grateful:
- Community “Team Up to Clean Up” (TUCU) Litter pick up & Shred Day – September 17, 2022 [25 trees planted]
- “Love the Boot” community TUCU Litter pick in the spring – April 23, 2022
- International Rotary planted trees in the LaPlace Dog Park
- KSJB Free Red Maple Seedling Give-Away on west and east banks – January 29, 2022 [Plan to give the remaining seedlings upon maturity to the parish parks.]
Additionally, as an affiliate KSJB must work to maintain a good standing with Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), and we are pleased to announce once again, we earned a Circle of Excellence Award this October and was awarded a 2022 Clean Up Supply grant.
Keep St. John Beautiful has been active in St. John Parish for 23 years under the same dedicated leader, Greg “Za” Maurin who has been working with a strictly volunteer committee which currently has seven members.
