LAPLACE — Krischell Cannon-Thomas, mother of the late Avionne Thomas and founder of Avi’s Flight Foundation, is hosting a resilience grief workshop called “Let’s Soar” exclusively for mothers who have lost a child.
The workshop will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, December 16 at Top Notch Creole Creations, located at 975 Cambridge Drive in LaPlace.
Avionne Thomas gained her wings on September 5, 2020 at the age of 24 after returning home from a two-year hospitalization and an even longer battle with lupus. Her mother shared plans to raise awareness for the auto-immune disease in St. John the Baptist and surrounding parishes.
Earlier this year, Avi’s Flight Foundation hosted events at West St. John Elementary and West St. John High School in Edgard, educating young ladies about the symptoms of lupus and how it could affect involvement with extracurricular activities, including sports.
Kita Harry, owner of Top Notch Creole Creations, is one of the board members of the Avi’s Flight Foundation.
For more information or to register for the grief workshop, text 504-352-3159 or email Avifly96@gmail.com. Donations for Avi’s Flight Foundation can be sent to P.O. Box 282, Edgard, LA 70049.
