19-year-old linked to deadly Baton Rouge shooting arrested in Garyville

BATON ROUGE — Demonte Johnson, 19, was arrested Tuesday in Garyville in connection to a deadly drive-by shooting that claimed the life of 22-year-old Jessie Johnson and injured another man on November 20 in Baton Rouge.
Johnson was arrested on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Police believe Johnson and the victim were in Johnson’s car when three subjects opened fire at the vehicle.
This marks the second arrest in the drive-by shooting investigation, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. Also arrested as a suspect was 18-year-old Jakai Johnson. A third suspect remains at large.
