Luling – On November 25, 2022, shortly after 6:30 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 18 (River Road) near Sings Lane in Luling. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 27-year-old Dimitrius Titone of Tampa, Florida.
The initial investigation revealed that Titone was driving a 2019 Ford Fusion east on River Road near Sings Lane. For reasons still under investigation, Titone failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control of the Ford which overturned and impacted a tree.
Despite being properly restrained, Titone suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was also properly restrained, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Impairment on the part of Titone is unknown and routine toxicology results are pending.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted. Follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
