Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office released the following statement:
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a Crimestoppers tip received late last night regarding a threat of violence possibly taking place at the Ponchatoula – Hammond football game tonight.
After investigating these allegations throughout the night and today, having conducted many interviews, detectives have determined the tip was not credible. It appears the false tip was intentionally made in an attempt to cause controversy and worry.
As always, we take ALL tips seriously, and will continue to monitor social media and Crimestoppers for any other developments.
