Sheriff Greg Champagne is proud to announce on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Narcotics Detectives with the St. Charles Parish Sheriffโs Office arrested Ernest Thompson, a 28-year-old male from Boutte, LA. Narcotics Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Thompson after witnessing a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, Thompson immediately exited his vehicle and refused to follow the Detectiveโs commands. Thompson then began yelling and attempted to incite citizens that were coming out of their residences.
Detectives located a small clear plastic bag containing marijuana. Detectives also located a large clear plastic bag containing: one clear plastic bag containing a black tar-like substance, sixteen clear plastic bags containing a black tar-like substance, one hundred and fifty-three bags of a cream-colored powder-like substance that field tested positive for Fentanyl, one clear plastic bag of a white powder-like substance that field tested positive for Cocaine, and forty-one bags of a white powder-like substance that field tested positive for Cocaine.
A semi-automatic pistol, that was confirmed stolen from a neighboring parish, was located in Thompsonโs vehicle.
Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for Thompsonโs residence. Inside Thompsonโs residence, Detectives located a rifle that was confirmed stolen from a neighboring parish.
Ernest Thompson is charged with the following: Traffic, Disturbing the Peace, Resisting an Officer, Battery of a Police Officer, Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms (2 Counts), Possession of Firearm/Carry Concealed Weapon by Convicted Felon, Illegal Carrying of Weapon in Presence of CDS, Possession or Distribution of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, and Possession of Marijuana.
Thompson is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center, awaiting a 72-hour bond hearing.
