Reserve woman arrested in homicide investigation

RESERVE — Ashley Johnson-Washington, 21, of Reserve, was arrested Sunday, October 2, 2022 in connection to the shooting death of Andrew Turcuit Sr., 70, of Reserve.
On the morning of Saturday, October 1, 2022, deputies responded to the 100 block of East 21st Street in Reserve in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Turcuit Sr.’s body and, with assistance from emergency medical services, administered aid to the victim. Turcuit Sr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Through the investigation, a female subject, identified as Johnson-Washington, was determined to be responsible for the shooting death of Turcuit Sr.
Based on evidence gathered through this investigation, detectives obtained a judicial warrant for the arrest of Johnson-Washington and issued a BOLO to surrounding agencies, in search of Johnson-Washington.
In the evening of Sunday, October 02, 2022, Johnson-Washington turned herself in with a neighboring agency. On October 03, 2022, Johnson-Washington was transported to St. John Parish where she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for homicide of Turcuit Sr. She was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility.
