During my 42 years of being a laborer in God’s ministry of Get High on Life, I’ve been privileged to address many groups. One of the most exciting and interesting groups that I conduct is the DWI classes for people who have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
I try to keep the sessions open to the people who attend. I allow them to speak, ask questions, and give opinions. The classes are held three nights a month. Most classes that others offer charge a fee to attend. I choose not to charge, because I believe what God gave me freely, I should give back freely.
I, occasionally, have a few people who attend show their appreciation by giving Get High on Life, which is a non-profit organization, a donation. The biggest I’ve ever received was a check for $150. The problem was it bounced. I’ve received many thank-you cards and, occasionally, I get a pack of Oreo’s, because that’s my favorite.
This past week, the last meeting happened to be on my birthday. I received a card from one of the attendees which I thoroughly enjoyed. I hope you get a kick out of it as I did. On the cover it read: “Once upon a time, a very special person was born who was destined to change the world.” The inside read: “Calm down, it’s not you. It’s JESUS. I think He’d want you to have a happy birthday, though.”
