School time curfew for juveniles to go into effect

With the start of a new school year just days away, Sheriff Mike Tregre reminds everyone that any minor under the age of 17 years is prohibited to loiter, stroll, drive any motor vehicle, or play in or upon streets, parks, or playgrounds between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on a night before school.
Provisions of the ordinance shall not apply when the minor is returning directly home from a school activity, entertainment, recreational activity, or dance or when the minor is going to or returning directly home from lawful employment that makes it necessary to be in such place during the proscribed period of time.
