A LaPlace man and an Edgard man have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery of a LaPlace business. They are Daquain London, 22, and Shawn Lewis Jr., 23.
With the assistance of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, London was arrested July 19, 2022 in Metairie. London, of LaPlace, was transferred to the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility and booked with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm (felony). He is being held in custody in lieu of a $225,000 bond.
Lewis, of Edgard, was arrested July 18, 2022 for armed robbery with a firearm (felony) and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $120,000 bond.
On Sunday, July 17, 2022, about 9:50 p.m., officers responded to a store in the 1900 block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, Lewis, a cashier at the business, and a co-worker told officers a male subject, later identified as London, had entered the business, armed with a gun, and demanded money. After turning over the money, the male subject fled the store on foot.
Through investigation, officers determined the armed robbery was orchestrated by Lewis and another subject. Based on further investigation, officers developed London as the second suspect and the gunman in the armed robbery.
