STEM St. John in partnership STEM NOLA powered by Entergy, St. John the Baptist Parish Government, St. John United Way and Marathon will host an in-person STEM Saturday event May 28 from 9:00am – 12:30pm at Regala Gym located at 194 Regala Park Road. All K-2nd grade scholars will have the opportunity to build and test their own flashlight and the 3rd-12th graders will build and test their own stoplight as they gain a basic understanding about circuits and electricity.
The event is designed to teach registered participants how electricity flows and help them understand circuits are used to power everyday devices. This is an opportunity for students to innovate, create and make with college interns and STEM professionals as we engage the youth of St. John the Baptist Parish and the surrounding areas in this vertical mentoring opportunity. STEM St. John is an affiliate of STEM Global Action, which provides children hands-on experiences with fun STEM-related projects that aim to build positive attitudes and confidence towards science, technology, engineering and math.
