Ponchatoula woman arrested for Felony Theft

Chief Jimmy Travis reports the arrest of 45-year-old Shalonda White of Lavigne Road in Ponchatoula, La.
Detectives began investigating a complaint from the Dollar General Store on Pumpkin Center Road in Hammond, where White was identified as the suspect of a shoplifting on February 5, 2022. Security footage showed White exiting the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise, having bypassed all points of sale.
During the investigation, detectives learned White had been arrested numerous times on theft charges, dating back to 1994. Because she was convicted of theft on two of the prior arrests, this additional arrest is automatically classified as a felony.
White was charged with (1) count Organized retail theft (felony) and (1) count Failure To Appear.
