LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School is a proud community institution, and SCC alumnus, Todd P. Trosclair, seeks to assist families as they send their children to SCC to receive a Catholic education.
Trosclair graduated from St. Charles Borromeo High School in 1977, where he was very active in sports and clubs. Living out the American dream of owning his own company, Mr. Trosclair firmly believes his success is attributable to education and strong, dependable teamwork. He is now CEO of All Star Electric, Inc. and founder of the All Star Foundation. The Foundation oversees and awards this scholarship to students attending SCC as a way to show support of Catholic education and allow Trosclair to assist active, hard-working and involved students with their high school tuition.
To apply for the awards, applicants must be a current St. Charles Catholic High School student, and the student must be participating in and must continue participation in at least one activity where he/she may earn “letterman” status. The criteria used in awarding this scholarship focus on the demonstration of the student’s development of the mind, body and spirit.
Two scholarship winners were recently awarded $1,000, and the winners are seniors Allison Powell and Zack Vicknair.
Allison Powell is senior at SCC who maintains a 4.7 GPA. She is a member of the award winning Starstepper dance team and has served as captain of the team for two years. In addition, Powell serves as student body president and is a member of SCC’s Academic Team, Mu Alpha Theta and Stagehands. Powell has earned placement in the ACT 30 Plus Club, Beta Club and National Honor Society, SCC’s prestigious honor societies for high-achieving students. She also serves as an SCC Ambassador and an SCC Minister of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She plans to attend Tulane University and study neuroscience.
Zack Vicknair is a senior at SCC who maintains a 4.0 GPA. He has lettered in football where he was named First Team All-District, Clarion Herald First Team, All-State Honorable Mention, and was named “Most Outstanding Player” in 2019. He has also lettered in baseball, basketball and soccer. He is also a leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serves as an SCC Ambassador. Vicknair plans to attend Southeastern Louisiana University where he will play football and study kinesiology.
Both Powell and Vicknair wrote about the importance of teamwork throughout their high school years.
SCC is very appreciative of the All Star Foundation and Todd Trosclair for selecting these students for recognition through this scholarship and for their continued commitment to the SCC community. Each student received a check for $1000 to go towards their future tuition.
